Current Issue: What Does Blogging Cost?

Hey all,

This is a different kind of post, but something I thought I should talk about anyway!

I came across a post on Blog Cat titled "The Cost of Blogging". It talks about how there is often pressure in the blogging world to have only the latest and best products, as well as having an expensive and never-ending collection. And how all of this becomes an 'expectation' of a good beauty blogger.

What do I think?

Yes, the pressure exists - of course it does. But, saying that, we are all grown ups here (well, most of us) and expectations shouldn't have to define what we do. Although I adore new collections and often pick up ones that catch my eye, I try to make blogging more about what I stumble upon and enjoy. If no one has heard about it before, no worries! If they take the time to have a look at my ramblings, maybe they will try it themselves.

I only blog about things that I want to write about, and I like to think that I only buy things that I want to buy. I couldn't be happier!

Anyway, it was a good read and I suggest that you head over and have a look at it. I would love to hear all of your opinions as well!

Hope you all have a great night! xx

  2. I totally agree with you. Pressure is natural, especially when it comes to talk about new launches but I buy only things I want (and I think a lot before buying!) and I write only about what I like.

  3. I buy/review what I want, no entire collections. Silly to buy things that won't work on me!

    1. Exactly! Pale pink blush isn't going to do much for my dark complexion now - is it? xx

  4. Thought provoking post; I agree, sometimes I feel out of the loop if I'm not buying the latest hyped product! I am coming to realise though that the really good products will last longer than a 'season' and they'll be around, and perhaps even on sale the longer they are on shelf. I just have to be patient :)

  5. Totally agree, I used to feel like I had nothing to blog about if I hadn't bought any new products, but now I blog about my NOTD and favourite products etc :)

  6. I agree with you sweetie, I don't think its the new things that make a blogger special but their personality. Like they say...money can't buy style :).

  7. What a great idea for a post! It is so true, Although I LOVE keeping up with the latest releases and trying out products my readers request, I can only ever use so many products in a lifetime!
