Hope you enjoyed these pictures and have a lovely rest of Christmas!

Christmas Shopping (For Myself)

Hey all,

Firstly, Merry Christmas Eve! I am up doing last minute Christmas activities (and waiting to open presents) - so I thought I would write a little post.

Every year around Christmas, I usually do a little shop for myself. I adore buying gifts for other people and it would be hard to find a centimetre of space under my tree - but I can't forget about myself. In the spirit of giving, I am giving myself some gifts!

I wonder what Santa would have to say about that...

The Mini-Haul

Colgate MaxWhite One Ice - The ads got to me. I don't have terribly yellow teeth, but they could always be whiter! I hope this one works...

St Ives Naturally Indulgent Body Lotion in Coconut Milk & Orchid Extract - I've tried a different version of this moisturiser before and loved it! Pretty good value for the size as well.

Lush Lemony Flutter - The best cuticle butter/treatment I have tried. I ran out a little while ago and my nails have been suffering without it!

Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Lotion - Thought I would give this a try as my skin has been causing a bit of trouble lately. Was recommend to me by my no#1 Mecca gal.

Mario Badescu Oil Free Moisturiser - As above.

Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel - My favourite cleanser. Keeps my skin looking healthy and glowing.

Colgate Tartar Control Floss - This is my favourite tooth floss (exciting, I know...). I don't know how well it controls tartar - but I don't seem to have any, so kudos there!

Soap & Glory Hand Food - It is the most astonishing hand cream ever! I always have spares as I find life very difficult without it!

Did you buy yourself anything this festive season? If so, link me!

Merry Christmas Everyone! xx

LonVitalité Professional Face Masks

Hey all,

I have been on a face mask kick lately and have been trying them left, right and centre. I feel as though they help maintain my skin's wellbeing and keep it looking fresh and clear. They also make me feel pampered - so why not?!

LonVitalité was lovely enough to send me a pack of wonderful face mask varieties and I have tried and loved ALL of them.

The masks are all cloth masks, so involve minimal mess!

The Masks

24K Active Gold Yulan Oil

- This mask has a cooling feeling a few seconds after you put it on your skin.
- Moisturising and nourishing.
- Promotes micro circulation and skin regeneration.

This mask was my favourite in the pack. It reduced redness and evened out my skin tone after one use and is definitely something I will be purchasing as a part of my weekly skin routine.

C1 Whitening, Moisturising and Pigment Taming

- Vitamin C to inhibit melanin production.
- Moisturising.
- Can reduce skin damage caused by UVA & UVB exposure.
- Strengthens blood circulation in the face.
- Boosts skin metabolism.

This mask brightened my entire complexion and created more radiant looking skin. I love the fact that it can reduce skin damage caused by the sun - definitely something we need here in Australia.

C2 Collagen Protein Wrinkle Removing & Moisturising Face Mask

- Accelerates skin metabolism and skin growth.
- Smooths fine lines.
- Recovers balance between skin oil and moisture.
- 100% natural collagen protein.
- Contains Hyaluronic acid.

This mask smoothed out the fine lines on my forehead, I only have a few though. It also reduced the appearance of the blemishes I had. It's is also worth mentioning that my skin felt a lot more balanced over the next few days and I did not have to oil blot at all!

C3 Collagen Firming & Wrinkle Removing Red Wine Face Mask

- Improve skin luster and promote the regeneration of damaged cells.
- Soothes from over-exposure to the sun and calms sun burn.
- 300% water absorption
- Firms the skin.

My skin was more taut than usual. It also calmed down redness and seemed to fade hyper-pigmentation. It was also very moisturising!

C4 Coconut Milk Hydrating & Nourishing Face Mask

- Strengthens the underlying layers of skin.
- Highly moisturising.
- Supports the natural chemical balance of the skin.
- Prevents drying, sagging and age spots.
- Smoothes out fine lines.
- Assists with acne by helping dissolve obstructions.

I use coconut oil in cooking, on my hair and on my skin. I am definitely aware of the amazing properties it has, so was very excited for this mask. After use, my skin felt moisturised for days. It also reduced redness and smoothed out the surface of my skin. It smells great too!

Price: $29 for a box of 5 masks.

I think that they are definitely worth the price!

Where to Buy: http://lonvitalite.com/shop/

I also have an eye mask and some hand masks to review, but they will get a post of their own!

Hope you have a great night! xx

Neutrogena Night Calming Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

Hey all,

Proper makeup removal is what I believe keeps my skin clear and I usually break out when I have a 'lazy day'. To cleanse my skin, I usually begin with makeup wipes and follow this up with a cleanser and water. I have found that this is the best way for me to ensure that I have removed ALL traces of makeup!

I also enjoy having them on hand when I am travelling and on days where I am too lazy to use a cleanser at all - it's better than nothing!

I have been using wipes for many years and have had many favourites - with Simple being my go-to brand for a couple of years. I rarely changed it up, except when I absolutely had to (out of stock, emergencies etc). But, I had heard good things about the Neutrogena wipes and was in Priceline on a sale day!

What I Love
- Glide over skin very smoothly, without pulling or tugging.
- Alcohol free.
- Removes all traces of makeup - mascara and eyeliner included!
- Usually only takes one wipe.
- Love the scent - it helps me unwind at the end of the day.
- Didn't cause any irritation.
- I believe these have resulted in less break outs.
- Purple packaging...

Where to Buy: Priceline, Big W and K-mart.

Price: $7.99

They are supposed to cleanse and tone without the need for water. My skin never feels clean enough when doing this, but it might work out alright for others.

I am definitely glad that I gave these a try and have already bought another two packs - just in case!

Hope you all have a great night! xx

w7 Bronzing Pearls

Hey all,

Many people think that I don't need bronzer, as I have darker skin. But without it, I can sometimes end up looking like a dead fish - trust me!

I find that bronzer brightens up my complexion and helps even it out a bit as well. This bronzer is quite close to my natural skin tone, so it doesn't overpower. It is definitely perfect as a 'pick me up' product though!

w7 Bronzing Pearls

What I Love
- Subtle shade on my skin tone.
- Applies smoothly and evenly.
- Isn't overloaded with shimmer, but does have a brightening effect.
- No-mess pearls!
- Cheap!

What I Don't
- Made out of cheaper ingredients. I would check them before using if you have any sensitivities (it hasn't been a problem for me).

Where to Buy: I got mine from Chemist Warehouse.

Price: $4.95

Swatch

As you can see, it's very similar to my skin tone - but brighter.
A wonderful, simple bronzer - at a great price! It's not my HG bronzer, but it is a good basic that I tend to use often. I would recommend it to anyone who was looking to expand their collection and to those who are just starting out with bronzer.

Hope you have a great night! xx

Urban Decay Naked Palette: I know, yet another review!

Hey all,

Even though I use my Naked Palette almost everyday, I have never considered reviewing it or posting it on my blog. Let's face it, there are A LOT of reviews out there and I figured readers would just eye-roll at yet another post.

But, as you can see - I caved.

I decided to see how the photograph and swatches would photograph and it just escalated from there. It's a nifty little palette guys, don't hate on me!

Naked Palette

A Closer Look at the Shades

What I Love
- Amazing quality shadows: they are smooth, creamy and very blend-able.
- Long lasting when used with a primer (haven't tried them without).
- Great range of shades with a mix of matte and shimmer.
- Not tested on animals.
- The packaging is cool-beans.

What I Don't
- Very hard to find in Australia - where are you Urban Decay? We're calling!

Where to Buy: I grabbed mine off Beauty Bay.

Price: $55.20

Swatches

Without Flash

Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck & Half Baked
Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep & Gunmetal
With Flash

A bit of a pricey palette, but it is worth every cent! I use this baby almost every day and have never regretted purchasing it - not even once.

Hope you all have a great night! xx

BYS Blusher in Coral

Hey all,

BYS is a cheaper cosmetics brand that is often overlooked. Although their products are not always the best quality, they do produce some that are definitely worth a mention. Their blushers are definitely one of those products!

What I Love
- Smooth and creamy.
- Blends easily.
- Highly pigmented.
- BYS cosmetics are not tested on animals.
- Amazing price!

What I Don't
- Packaging tends to be flimsy.
- Contains Mica, which may irritate the skin of some people.

Price: $3.95

Where to Buy: K-Mart, Big W, Fashion Addict online and at some pharmacies.

Swatch

This blush is a gorgeous coral shade with a hint of shimmer. It's would especially compliment darker skin tones; but as it is not too overpowering - it should work for most. The ingredients tend to be 'cheaper' due to the cost, but I haven't had any problems with their products so far. If you do have sensitive skin, I definitely recommend that you have a look at the ingredients before purchasing.

At $3.95 it's an absolute steal and I definitely recommend that you give it a try! BYS also has a great range of other shades to have a look at.

Stila Love at First Blush Palette

Hey all,

What a horrid, rainy weekend it has been! It's been storming something awful here in Brisbane and I am not a fan of storms at all. Neither are the fur babies, so we've been snuggled up in bed with endless amounts of tea, TV shows and books this weekend.

The worst thing about it? I have been having such a great time doing nothing and Monday has crept up on me. I have a major case of Sunday afternoon blues at the moment.

Why can't I work from bed?!

I did take some pictures of products this weekend (in the glimmers of sunshine), so I will have some reviews/swatches lined up this week.

Stila Love at First Blush

I've had this blush for a little while now, but it has been living in its box until recently. It is a limited edition blush, but you can find it on the internet as usual.

What I Love
- The imprint on the blush - hearts everywhere! I will be honest, this is the main reason I purchased it.
- Highly pigmented.
- Smooth and creamy.
- No excessive fallout.
- Can use the colours together or separately to achieve different effects.

What I Don't
- It is VERY shimmery, so use with caution.

Price: I can't remember how much I paid, but it goes for around $20.00 on eBay.

Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil

Hey all,

How have we been? We're nearly at the mid-week point, finally! This week has been very, very jam packed for me and I feel as though I have already worked 5 days. Being a social worker and working with teenage boys, I sometimes feel as though I have 20 children - who are all hormonal at exactly the same time.

I also have a couple of crazy cats, who are chasing Christmas Beetles into the ground. Broken venetian glass? Oh well!

It's all part of the fun!

Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil

A long while ago (whilst I was whining about my skin) a friend recommend trying Rosehip Oil and it worked wonders! Before that, I would have never though about putting oil on my face - as I have combination skin. Since 'diving into' the face oil world, I can't help but be interested in almost every one I spot. There are many of them out there and each of them claim to do a range of wonderful things.

This one? Well, it's pretty damn good!

How to Use
Dispense 2-3 drops on a cotton pad and apply to cleansed, damp skin. Gently massage in until absorbed.

I usually skin putting it on a cotton pad and apply it straight to my fingers.

What I Love
- The smell - it was the first thing I noticed about this product!
- Not too greasy.
- Sinks into the skin without leaving an oily residue.
- Moisturises and helps control my t-zone.
- A little goes a long way.
- Packaging - sleek glass bottle and dropper top.

What I Don't
- The glass bottle is not suitable for the clumsy (me).
- It is a bit pricey!

Where to Buy: Jurlique, Myer

Price: $62.00

This is a great face oil for those with oilier skin. It doesn't "over moisturise" and actually helps to control oil levels. Jurlique puts out some amazing products and this is honestly one of my favourites.

Has it replaced my old-faithful Rosehip Oil?
Why, yes it has!

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Current Issue: What Does Blogging Cost?

Hey all,

This is a different kind of post, but something I thought I should talk about anyway!

I came across a post on Blog Cat titled "The Cost of Blogging". It talks about how there is often pressure in the blogging world to have only the latest and best products, as well as having an expensive and never-ending collection. And how all of this becomes an 'expectation' of a good beauty blogger.

What do I think?

Yes, the pressure exists - of course it does. But, saying that, we are all grown ups here (well, most of us) and expectations shouldn't have to define what we do. Although I adore new collections and often pick up ones that catch my eye, I try to make blogging more about what I stumble upon and enjoy. If no one has heard about it before, no worries! If they take the time to have a look at my ramblings, maybe they will try it themselves.

I only blog about things that I want to write about, and I like to think that I only buy things that I want to buy. I couldn't be happier!

Anyway, it was a good read and I suggest that you head over and have a look at it. I would love to hear all of your opinions as well!

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Korres Botanically Coated Blush in Coral & Purple

Hey all,

My Korres product discovery continues and I keep finding products that pleasantly surprise me. It always makes me happy when one brand can get so many things right across a range of products.

Leaves the other, less consistent brands no excuse!

Coral
Purple
What Korres Says
Velvety blush powder particles coated with a rich botanical blend that offers a natural yet luminous colour.

What I Love
- It is definitely one of the MOST velvety blushes I have ever known. Feels so smooth and silky, even when swatched.
- Well pigmented.
- Luminous and natural finish - not matte, nor shiny.
- Packed with natural ingredients.
- Doesn't contain mineral oils or propylene glycol.
- Great price (especially when bought online).
- Packaging - I'm a big fan of Korres simplistic approach to makeup.

What I Don't
- Pricier in Australia and you have to order online to get good prices.
- Packaging always chips my nails, as it is ridiculously hard to open!

Where to Buy: Mecca, eBay (I buy mine from Friviolity)

Price: Mecca - $49.95, eBay - $16.00

Coral & Purple.

Although this blush doesn't pack as much pigment as, say, an Illamasqua blush; it gives you enough colour to brighten up your complexion. Definitely a winner for those looking for a more natural look and I recommend these two shades especially for those of you with darker skin!

What are your favourite Korres products?

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Burt's Bees Cranberry & Pomegranate Sugar Scrub

Hey all,

I am often plagued with dry and flaky skin, so when I was sent this nifty lil' product I was over the moon. Although my skin has a lot more problems (of the flaky variety) in the colder months, I definitely still get a bout of dry skin here and there in summer.

And who wants crocodile legs on display?

What's In It?
Cranberry seeds, pomegranate oil, natural sugar crystals and shea butter.

How to Use
I scrub generous amounts in circular motions all over my body.
Concentrate in particular on elbows, knees and any other areas that need a little more.
Wash off! And be careful, it makes the shower quite slippery!

What I Love
- It exfoliates like a dream and leaves my skin feeling smooth.
- Exfoliates without being too abrasive or damaging to the skin.
- Conditions skin.
- Natural ingredients with no harsh chemicals in sight.
- Smells divine.
- You get a lot of product, so it should last a while.

What I Don't
- Does leave a little residue, so you may want to use it at night to avoid oily feeling skin during the day.

Where to Buy: One Floor, Myer, Priceline and certain pharmacies.

Price: $29.95

I've been trying to get into more body scrubs/exfoliators and am glad that this one was brought to my attention. I adore more natural products, especially when they do exactly what they are supposed to - three cheers for Burt's Bees!

Have you tried any scrubs that are to die for? I would love to know!

Hope you all have a great night! xx

About One Floor: This product was sent to me by One Floor, found at onefloor.com.au. One floor stocks a range of beauty, hair and fragrance products and has a great range of natural and organic products in the mix. Best of all, it's a small QLD based business with a very friendly team - so head over and give them some support!

Essence Get Big! Lashes

Hey all,

Negative reviews are not my thing. In fact, negativity in general is not my thing. Saying that, I do believe that if I’m not impressed with a product I should share my opinion. Maybe it will save you some time and money or maybe it will send you off on a furious mission to prove me wrong.

Either way. I am not a fan of this mascara.

What I Don’t Like
- Claims to add volume, but didn’t add any for me.
- Brush is too fat for my liking (don’t even think about doing the bottom lashes).
- Starts flaking at the end of the day.

What I Do
- Adds some length to my lashes and lifts them up a bit.
- Bargain, bargain! Essence products are ridiculously cheap!

Where to Buy: Target & Priceline

Price: $4.95

I think that Essence is a great brand, but even great brands have not-so-great products every once in a while. I have tried mascara’s from them before that I have absolutely loved  - see All Eyes on Me, but this is not one of them. Feel free to try it if you want though, it may just work for you! Mascara is a little like that.

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Korres Lip Butter in Plum

Hey all,

I have jumped on the Korres bandwagon! After all the hype surrounding the lip butters, I decided I had to pick some up to try.

This one is my favourite so far.

What I Love
- Highly moisturising, without being sticky.
- Smell amazing.
- Gives a pop of colour to the lips.
- I;m a big fan of simplistic packaging, and Korres has got that down to a fine art!

What I Don't
- I am not a fan of tubs that I have to put my fingers in. Germmmmms!

Where to Buy: Mecca & Kit Cosmetics.

Price: $18.95

Swatch

Some have compared these to the Revlon Lip Butters. Although I don't think that they are quite as pigmented, they are much more moisturising and less pricey here in Australia. I think that they live up to their 'hype' and that all beauty lovers should give them a try.

I also have Pomegranate and am eyeing off Guava, Quince and Wild Rose at the moment.

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Illamasqua Blush in Allure - Generation Q

Hey all,

Ever since first trying products from the brand, Illamasqua has been up there on my list of favourites. This especially holds true now that they have permanently reduced their Australian prices (yippie for fairness)!

I have been excited about many of their collections in the past, but none have ticked all my boxes the same way that Generation Q does. Promoting beauty and make-up as ageless and non-discriminatory and doing so with fabulous new shades? Three cheers from this blogger!

So far, I have only picked up the Allure blush. I was hovering over the display and couldn't decide what else to get (as I couldn't buy it all, damn bills). Don't worry though, I am planning to run walk briskly to the shops and grab the Complement Palette, S.O.P.H.I.E Blush, Precision Ink in Wisdom and the Charisma Polish. Have any of you posted swatches for those?

To the blush!

The Shade
A dusky rose shade, with slight pink shimmer.

What I Love
- Illamasqua qualiy - highly pigmented, blendable and long lasting.
- Minimal pan fallout.
- Gorgeous shade, works very well with my darker skin.
- Has shimmer, but not so much that I turn into a disco ball.
- I love Illamasqua packaging, simple and effective.
- Loving the new reduced Australian prices!

Where to Buy: Myer, Illamasqua Online

Price: $28

Swatches

I wasn't happy with how the colour was coming across in a lot of the pictures I took, so I am posting the two that best represent it.

Have you purchased anything from the Generation Q collection? Will you be?

Hope you all have a great night! xx

Orofluido Beauty Elixir for Hair

Hey all,

I am finally back to reviewing (and purchasing)! I was going to bring this review to you a while ago - but personal and technical problems have bombarded me over the past month. Anyway, it's here now!

This product is one that I was excited to try for a long while. I had read reviews that said it was magic hair elixir, that did everything you could want it to.

They weren't wrong. And I have to thank the lovely Mandy from One Floor for sending this baby to me, as it has completely changed my hair.

What Orofluido Says
"Orofluido is a beauty elixir for all hair types, with a pure luxuriance that envelops your hair."

I translate this to a more simple "It's great".

Key Ingredients
Argan, Cypress and Linseed Oils.

What I Love
- It gave me shinier, stronger hair within two weeks.
- Reduced frizziness.
- Doesn't leave hair feeling oily or weighed down - my main concern with hair oils.
- Large amount of product, and you only use a little. It should last for a while!
- Smells great!

What I Don't
- A little on the pricier side, but I think that it is worth the investment.

Where to Buy: One Floor

Price: $24.95 for 50mL

I have quite long hair that can sometimes lean towards the dry, brittle and frizzy side, especially if I have been overusing hot tools. This has done wonders for the appearance as well as the health of my hair. I have tried other hair oils in the past, such as Moroccan Argan Oil and Loreal Mythic Oil, but neither of them have produced the same results.

I love it, it is highly likely that you will love it to.

Try, try, try!

Hope you all have a great night! xx

The Past Month

Hi all,

It has been a while!

As most of you would have noticed, Marked Beauty blog has been quiet over the past month or so.

My partner was in an accident and I went from being a social worker and part-time blogger, to being a full time nurse. Sadly, blogging had to be put on the back-burner for a little while.

Although I wish I didn't have to vanish so abruptly, I am glad that I had time off to get back into the right headspace. After all, you wouldn't have wanted to read blogs about medication and hospital cafeteria food.

My partner is now on the mend (without lasting damage, thankfully), I'm heading back to work in a few weeks and things in general are looking wonderful again. I feel as though it is the perfect time for me to come out of the dark!

I have a lot of reviews, swatches and posts to get out there and they will start popping up tomorrow!

Upcoming

- Orofluido
- Burt's Bees Sugar Scrub
- Korres galore
and
- A handmade nail polish brand that has some fabulous glitter polishes.

Thank you all for your understanding, and for not deserting me. I shall see a lot more of all of you from now on.
